The New-Home Gutter Checklist
Before accepting a finished gutter system, verify:
- Every roof plane drains into a gutter or engineered discharge path.
- Inside valleys have enough capacity and do not throw water over the front lip.
- Downspouts are sized for the roof area rather than installed only for appearance.
- Hangers are fastened into solid structure, not only thin fascia trim.
- Downspout extensions carry water at least 8 to 10 feet away from the slab.
- The system is sealed at miters and end caps.
- Gutter protection does not require damaging the roof shingle warranty.
Why New Homes Still Need Fine-Mesh Protection
New subdivisions often have young trees, but wind carries construction dust, roof granules, seeds, and neighborhood debris into open gutters immediately. Fine stainless mesh prevents this material from accumulating while preserving the clean look of a new roofline.
Installers should clean and inspect the gutter channel first. Guards should never be used to hide an existing pitch, fastening, or downspout problem.
Protecting Landscaping and Clay Soil
Centerton lots may have recently graded soil that is especially vulnerable to washout. Controlled downspout discharge and splash-free valley drainage prevent trenches from forming beside walkways and keep water from collecting around the slab.
